Due to the naturally occurring asymmetries within the human body and the resulting positions/patterns these can create in our posture and movement, there is often a need to sense different things as we move onto a left leg vs when we move onto a right leg. In today’s class we explore the things we may want to feel and experience at the foot, hip, pelvis and thorax as we shift between legs.
This class features the following Non-Manual Techniques from the Postural Restoration Institute:
- Supine Hooklying Bar Reach (modified version)
- Right Sidelying Respiratory Resisted Left Adductor Pull Back
- Sidelying Respiratory Scissor Slides
- Long Seated Alternating Crossovers
- Standing Supported Left AF IR with Right FA Abduction
- Standing Supported Right Knee Flexion with Left Hip Approximation
- Retro Stairs (modified version)
- Supine Hooklying Hamstring with IO TA
EQUIPMENT:
- A mat.
- Some wall space.
- 1-2 towels.
- A pillow.
- A pilates ball, toilet roll or similar.
- A hardback book.
- 1-2 Yoga Blocks (optional).
- A broom/mop handle (or similar).
- A surface to lean on (table, desk or similar).
- Supportive shoes (optional but recommended).
